UA-PTC Health Information Technology Program Mission Statement

The Health Information Technology (HIT) program is committed to the advancement of outcomes-focused knowledge and the preparation of individuals for various careers in health information technology. The Health Information Technology program is dedicated to providing culturally diverse students with the knowledge, skills, and analytical tools necessary to become successful, ethical professionals. This program encourages and values a mix of discipline-based scholarship, contributions to practice and collaborative learning, and its faculty members strive for excellence in teaching, practice, and professional service.  The program supports professional interaction among faculty, practitioners and students, and encourages involvement with local, regional, national, and international organizations.

About Our Program

UA - Pulaski Tech offers the Health Information Technology program as an online Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Technology degree. The Associate Degree Health Information Technology Program is in Candidacy Status, pending accreditation review by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).

The associate's degree program requires 22-semester credits of general education, and 38 credits of HIT program coursework for a total of 60-semester credits. The degree program is offered year-round with courses offered in the fall, spring, and summer. Students are admitted to begin the HIT program in the fall, spring, and summer semesters. There's a $100 HIT program fee per semester.

The HIT department also offers the Medical Office Technology (MOT) program. This program is designed to give students the technological and medical knowledge and skills needed by secretaries and administrative assistants in today’s medical offices.
