Message from the Dean of Science, Math and Allied Health

Dr. Marico Howe

Greetings Visitors and Prospective Students! It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College (UA-PTC) School of Sciences, Mathematics, and Allied Health. Our goal is to assist you in empowering your life, first through learning and second through service, so that you can make a difference in the Arkansas community and across the world.

To achieve this, we offer associate degrees as well as certificate programs, enabling our students to tailor their educational experience to their specific needs or to develop the general knowledge and skills that prepare them for careers in many diverse fields. We are an innovative school that offers Associate Degrees in Liberal Arts and Sciences and Allied Health. Our Allied Health Programs include: Practical Nursing, Dental Assisting, Respiratory Therapy, Emergency Medical Sciences, Surgical Technology, Pre-Health Care Studies, and Health Information Technology. Excitedly, our partnerships with other academic institutions allow us to offer degree completer opportunities for Radiography, Occupational Therapy Assistant, and Sleep Technology. Our Liberal Arts and Sciences program houses our state-renowned general education courses (physics, biology, chemistry, health sciences, physical sciences, and mathematics) that help a majority of the Arkansas student population satisfy their general education requirements for UA-PTC and other Arkansas higher education institutions.

Our faculty is dedicated to student-centered learning that enables individuals to develop to their fullest potential. Our Science and Mathematics Departments offer general education courses that facilitates our students’ ascension to higher order math and computation courses.  Our Allied Health Programs are accredited by discipline-specific organizations and are a part of UA-PTC’s efforts to continue to offer degrees and certificates in medically necessary fields of study consistent with the needs of our community and the needs of an ever-changing health care environment. Our online opportunities afford our students the ability to balance school, work, family and social life as they progress towards their career and life goals.
