New Student Orientation (NSO)
Incoming freshmen and transfer students are required to attend New Student Orientation at the beginning of their first semester at UA-PTC. NSO gives students the opportunity to learn valuable information about the College, how financial aid works, processes and procedures, and how to be a successful student at UA-PTC.
New Student Folder
Please read the New Student Folder. This includes important information for you to review, regarding deadlines and things you need to know as a new student.
Preparing for your first advising session
You can’t be advised until you have completed the admission process and have been fully-accepted to the College. Here are some things to work on until that process is complete:
Check out our Programs of Study and
Degree Plans prior to your session
See if any of these spark your interest. If you already know what you want your
major to be, print that degree plan and bring it with you.
Familiarize yourself with the
Course Schedule
This is where you’ll find available courses by looking at their “Department” or
“Course Code” (Example: ENGL 1311 English Composition I). You can also see when
and where classes will meet. Most of our classes meet either Mondays/Wednesdays
(MW) or Tuesdays/Thursdays (TR). Remember, we don’t typically have classes on
Fridays!
Write down a list of questions
It is important to ask your advisor about concerns you may have or questions
about your degree program. The more questions you ask, the better prepared
you’ll be to succeed! You can find the answers to many questions on our
Frequently Asked Questions page.
Once you have been fully accepted to the College, you will be ready to meet with an academic advisor, and register for classes. You can do this one of two ways:
